POELLATH advises trustees regarding German inheritance law and tax consequences
POELLATH has provided comprehensive advice to trustees of a foreign trust of a British-US-American family regarding tax consequences of potential distributions to a US American living in Germany as well as with regard to the future succession law consequences after the settlor’s death. The focus of the advice together with UK and US colleagues was to identify and minimize risks of double taxation with domestic and foreign (US) taxes as well as risks of double taxation with German gift and income tax. At the same time, the consequences under German inheritance law regarding the trust were advised on, including structuring options for future generations.
