JUVE Handbuch Steuern 2020

12 Professionals listed, of whom four as "leading"

In 2020, the JUVE Tax Handbook has again ranked almost 150 tax advisory firms. An independent staff team of specialist journalists carried out 4,279 interviews.
P+P is represented with 12 advisors, of whom four are "leading".

The firm once again receives a top listing for its advice to "Wealthy Individuals" with Reinhard Pöllath und Andreas Richter as "leading" attorneys. Stephan Viskorf is also included among the "frequently recommended" advisors. The firm has long played in "its own league" in advising HNW families and individuals; it regularly advises on complex, internationally significant tax and foundation law matters for the wealthy in the three-digit millions and billion Euros range. The practice is praised for having "established a standout upcoming team" that "meets the highest standards". This includes the appointment of Anna Katharina Gollan as associated partner at the beginning of 2020. Market experts attest that the firm has an "indisputably strong practice". The Munich office in particular "shines" for its advice on various succession structuring matters for international entrepreneurial families. The experts in Berlin are particularly active on projects such as disputes with authorities, which often involve amounts in the millions. The entire practice profits from the intensive cooperation with the firm's investment tax team.

In this area, P+P is also represented by two "leading" partners: Andreas Rodin and Amos Veith. Other "frequently recommended" advisors include Uwe Bärenz, Ronald Buge and Jens Steinmüller. The firm is among the advisory firms with the most experience and a correspondingly broad client base. The firm meets the challenge of abiding by the continuously increasing compliance requirements for funds with the new appointment of a counsel [André Fest], who will continue to advance the standardization and digitalization of tax compliance for private equity funds as its own specialty.

For tax structuring advice and drafting of agreements on tax matters in transactions, P+P is also represented by a large and diversified team that has advised many private equity firms on investments and takeovers. An "additional strength" is advice on large, complex real estate transactions. The practice differs significantly from most competitors in that it has its own mandates and clients, especially on structuring matters. Particularly "frequently recommended" advisors are the Munich-based partner Michael Best and the Berlin-based partner Hardy Fischer.

Last but not least, P+P scores in corporate group tax law for the 'tax structuring and project advisory' segment, with Stephan Viskorf as a "frequently recommended" advisor. This is primarily attributed to the firm's "market leading" succession practice, because the firm is "the first choice" for many shareholders behind the companies.
