POELLATH update: Growth in the partnership, ten new counsel and a change in the management board
With Dr. Katharina Hemmen (private clients, Frankfurt) and Dr. Sebastian Gerlinger (private equity/venture capital, Munich), the partnership welcomes two professionals from within its own ranks to the partnership as of the beginning of the new year.
Dr. Katharina Hemmen is a new equity partner in the private clients practice at the Frankfurt office. She has many years of experience in the core areas of private clients advisory: wealth succession, foundations and trusts, family office structuring, prenuptial and inheritance agreements, relocation and exit and shareholder disputes. With her internal move from the Berlin to the Frankfurt office, Hemmen gave the starting signal in 2015 for the strong development of the private clients division in the Frankfurt metropolis.
Dr. Katharina Hemmen joined POELLATH in 2012 as a lawyer and tax advisor. With her appointment as partner, POELLATH is further expanding its private clients division. Currently, the private clients team comprises around 30 professionals across all locations.
Dr. Sebastian Gerlinger is a new equity partner in the private equity/venture capital department at the Munich office. Mr. Gerlinger has been with POELLATH since 2008 and has specialized in venture capital from the very beginning. Here, he advises on the entire spectrum: corporate financing in all growth phases, particularly through equity capital and convertible loans, venture debt financing, secondaries and exits.
His clients include all players in the venture capital arena such as VC funds, corporate venture capitalists, start-ups and business angels. With the appointment of Mr. Gerlinger, POELLATH continues to conclusively expand its venture capital practice.
Ten New Counsel
In addition to the partner appointments, the POELLATH partnership has selected the following ten lawyers and tax advisors as counsel: in Berlin, Dr. Elisabeth Märker (tax law), Dr. Anne Seidel (private funds), Dr. Puya Rezai Hariri (real estate), David Peroz (private funds), Dr. Jesko von Mirbach (M&A/private equity) and Dr. Marcus Niermann (private clients); in Frankfurt, Christine Funk (M&A/private equity) and Erik Muscheites (private clients); and in Munich, Raphael Baumgartner (tax) and Alexander Pfefferler (M&A/private equity).
Change in the POELLATH Management Board
Finally, with effect as of the new year, the partnership has appointed Berlin real estate partner Dr. Matthias Durst as a new member of the Management Board. In this position, he succeeds Berlin Partner Amos Veith, who is retiring from the board after a three-year term of office.
In addition to Dr. Matthias Durst, corporate partner Dr. Eva Nase and tax partner Peter F. Peschke (both Munich) will continue to serve on the Management Board. The Management Board plans, organizes and implements central firm projects and coordinates the strategic orientation of the firm across all offices.
