POELLATH advises the management of Springer Nature on its IPO

Berlin-based scientific publisher Springer Nature started last week at a price of EUR 24.00 per share on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange. This corresponded to a market capitalization of around EUR 4.9 billion. Gross issue proceeds of EUR 600 million were generated, of which EUR 400 million went to the financial investor BC Partners, which reduced its stake from 47 to 36 per cent. The remaining proceeds will be used to repay debt. This was the third largest IPO in Germany this year.

Springer Nature was founded in 1842 and is now one of the world's largest publishers of scientific publications with more than 9,000 employees. The publisher brings over 14,000 specialized book titles onto the market each year and publishes 3,000 scientific journals. Springer Nature includes publishing brands such as Springer, Nature Portfolio, BMC, Palgrave Macmillan and Scientific American. Springer Nature is active in more than 30 countries.
