Who’s Who Legal Germany 2017

Since 1996 Who's Who Legal has identified the foremost legal practitioners in multiple areas of business law. It is impossible to buy an entry in this publication.

In the current German edition, 13 P+P professionals are listed in their areas of expertise, of whom Andreas Richter, Stefan Lebek, Wolfram Pätzold, Patricia Volhard and Andreas Rodin are recognized as "Most Highly Regarded Individual" in their respective areas of expertise. Founding partners Reinhard Pöllath and Matthias Bruse each received accolades in more than one practice area.

P+P is "at the top of our research" with two lawyers listed in the private client practice. "Excellent and very active practitioner" Andreas Richter belongs to the "Most Highly Regarded Individuals" (one of two). He is one of the "highest-regarded lawyers in our research and has advised family offices, family businesses and foundations in estate planning, wealth succession and legal and tax matters". His colleague Matthias Bruse is a "very well regarded and a seasoned lawyer", who has "advised family businesses for decades". He has a "strong commercial background" and is also lauded for his expertise in M&A.
Matthias is "a very sophisticated corporate lawyer", who undertakes a range of complex M&A and private equity deals. Likewise  Otto Haberstock is also a highly recommended figure in private M&A and venture capital transactions.
P+P founding partner Reinhard Pöllath is listed for his expertise in arbitration, where he is described as an "extremely impressive practitioner", and is also listed for his corporate tax competence as "one of the best" for tax advisory work, with peers and clients alike commending him for his "highly creative" tax planning practice. Frankfurt partner Pia Dorfmueller is also an "excellent tax practitioner", who offers extensive advice to clients on international tax structures. Another "recommended tax specialist" is Michael Best, who regularly advises clients on the tax aspects of private equity funds. Sources "warmly endorse Michael for his 'rigorous approach' and keen eye for fine details".
Moreover, P+P once again remains at the "top of our research" in the investment management area, achieving six listings, including Andreas Rodin and Patricia Volhard as "Most Highly Regarded Individual" (two out of a total of 4).
In Frankfurt, founding partner and head of the firm's fund structuring practice, Andreas Rodin is an "eminent, market-leading authority with over 30 years of experience in the funds space". He regularly advises domestic and international private equity firms on fund formation, regulatory and tax issues relating to inbound and outbound structures. Interviewees praised Patricia Volhard's "outstanding" practice, with one source singling her out as "one of the country's most accomplished and celebrated funds lawyers". In Berlin, Uwe Bärenz is a "visible force in the market thanks to his considerable experience advising private equity funds, pension funds, investment funds and private investors on fund-related tax and regulatory issues". The "exceptional" Amos Veith is a "key player who is highly sought after for his incisive counsel in the fund-of-funds space". The "technically astute" Tarek Mardini is commended for his expertise in venture capital fund formation and private investment fund structuring.
Last but not least, P+P is commended for its the real estate practice, with Berlin partner Stefan Lebek and Munich partner Wolfram Pätzold listed as "Most Highly Regarded Individual". "At P+P Pöllath + Partners, two lawyers are among our most nominated practitioners". Stefan Lebek is "an excellent lawyer and a really pleasant guy". He specializes in all aspects of real estate transactions and project development. The "highly rated" Wolfram Pätzold has expertise in complex transactions, project finance and development and joint ventures.
