Dr. Jan-Eckhard Wegener, LL.M.

Jan is a member of the Private Clients team.

The team specializes in providing holistic advice to high-net-worth individuals, especially family entrepreneurs and their mostly complex international asset structures. “Our clients can expect advice that comprehensively considers not only all legal aspects but - as our experience shows - also all personal aspects that family life itself, and the life of an entrepreneurial family in particular, entails.”

The Private Clients team therefore brings together specialists from the fields of corporate law, inheritance and family law and, above all, tax law in order to quickly and efficiently grasp all the individual needs of our clients and to be able to provide them with highly qualified advice.

In addition to general tax and corporate law, Jan specializes in customized restructurings and the optimization of holding structures, as well as all aspects of asset succession. Since such restructurings and asset transfers usually entail international touchpoints, one of his main areas of expertise is international tax law. For example, he is regularly involved in the establishment of foreign legal entities (such as foundations or trusts) and the planning of relocations of asset holders. 

In his PhD thesis, Jan deals with tax implications of usufruct structures in the context of company succession.
