At POELLATH counts: Career through cooperation instead of against each other
Raphael Baumgartner, Counsel, Tax Law, Munich
POELLATH was already well-known to me as a leading law firm before my initial contact with them. At my first meeting in the Munich office, I was immediately impressed by the modern meeting room in the heart of downtown Munich. The POELLATH team itself appealed to me not only because of the high level of professionalism, but also because of their relaxed man-ner. We concluded the meeting with an espresso on the roof terrace with a view of the Frauenkirche. This first personal POELLATH experience convinced me to apply for a position here.
I have now been with POELLATH for almost three years as a tax advisor, dealing with the tax challenges associated with private equity and venture capital. In addition to the other ad-vantages, such as POELLATH’s own chefs or the barbecues on the roof terrace, I particularly appreciate the work on exciting tasks. When developing tailor-made solutions for our clients, the seniority of my colleagues takes a back seat. The decisive factors are rather the mutual support and a constructive workflow.
I mainly work in the area of fund compliance. This means that I advise funds on the day-to-day management and tax structuring of their targets to circumvent risks. My supervising partner quickly introduced me to the funds and let me get in touch with the managers. I was allowed to deal with their questions independently at an early stage, but, if necessary, I received explanations and support from my partner and our team. Thus, when I started at POELLATH, I experienced a great deal of personal responsibility and still never felt left alone. This solution-oriented exchange on equal footing with colleagues and clients still contributes to my professional and personal development today. It is an important element of my work at POELLATH.
One often hears about an informal working atmosphere. At POELLATH, however, it quickly becomes clear that as a team player you get further than by using your elbows. This does not exclude a focus on the personal development of the employees. In the numerous additional educational courses offered both in-house and off-site, it is noticeable that these do not only cover technical topics. The non-legal skills programs also focus on character development. From leadership seminars and foreign language courses to workshops on business development, POELLATH appreciably builds up its employees for their own future.
