First EU sanctions against Russia
In response to the recognition of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, the European Union adopted a first package of sanctions on February 23, 2022. The measures have already been published in the Official Journal of the EU and entered into force. The European Council has already announced another package of sanctions in view of Russia’s further aggression against Ukraine in violation of international law.
