World Tax 2014

World Tax, an International Tax Review publication, compiles its list of tax law firms by interviewing a representative sample of tax directors from leading firms in the market. The main criteria for listings include ingenuity and innovation, the advisors' knowledge, experience, attentiveness and diligence.

According to the guide, P+P is "traditionally renowned for its private equity work", represented by P+P Munich partner Michael Best, "head of the tax department, [who] specializes in this sector." The past year has seen "a deliberate building of strength in corporate tax ... directed by Pia Dorfmueller, who leads P+P tax work in Frankfurt, Germany's financial center". In addition, Berlin partner Dieter Birk has made a name for his litigation and court work, respectively outside the courts, in advising firms threatened by litigation and working to settle disputes before they reach the courtroom.
